Synaptic Laboratories Ltd. to represent ICT Gozo Malta Project, and also to present at, the Dubrovnik Nuclear Threats and Security Conference 2012
The activities of the ICT Gozo Malta Project and Synaptic Laboratories continue to draw international attention, resulting in invitations to provide expert speakers at leading scientific events.
Recently Synaptic Laboratories Ltd., as ICT GM co-founders and project designers, were contacted by the CEO and President of the World Academy of Art and Science, extending an invitation to provide an expert speaker this weekend for the Dubrovnik Nuclear Threats and Security Conference. This event is being held in Croatia over 14-17 September 2012.
It is an honor to receive this invitation, and also to be positioned as the first paper to be presented, immediately following the opening remarks by the President of The World Academy, the President of Croatia, the Chair of the European Leadership Network, and a senior NATO representative.
The Conference is a ‘by invitation’ only event, for both speakers and attendees. Other participants include former government (President and Ministers) and senior UN officials, as well as academic and NATO leaders.
The Dubrovnik Conference is organised by the World Academy of Art and Science, the European Leadership Network and the Dag Hammarskjold University College of International Relations and Diplomacy. The Conference is co-sponsored by NATO.
The World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS) is an international non-governmental scientific organization that includes leading artists, politicians, statesmen, former heads of various countries, heads of research institutes and international organizations, Nobel Prize winners and business leaders. The idea of founding the Academy was voiced in the 1950s by leading scientists including Albert Einstein, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and Joseph Rotblat who had been involved in the development of the atomic bomb; Bertrand Russell philosopher and pacifist; Joseph Needham, a co-founder of UNESCO; Lord Boyd Orr, the First Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization; George Brock Chisholm, the First Director General of the World Health Organization; John A. Fleming, former President of the International Council of Scientific Unions, and others.
The Dubrovnik Conference brings together thought and scientific leaders to explore current and new approaches to eliminate war and create a nuclear-weapons-free-world, where immediately nuclear weapons are taken off hair trigger alert. WAAS President Ivo Slaus says:
“The tasks of the abolition of war and creating a nuclear-weapons-free-world are not easy - we have to make them a realistic goal. These tasks do require new, out-of-the-box thoughts and actions, they demand all our ingenuity, creativity, understanding and wisdom. When mankind is threatened with so many dangers, none of which can be diminished, much less solved by war or by violence, our survival demands abolition of war and of all weapons of mass destruction. This is our primary duty!”
The ICT Gozo Malta Project and Synaptic Labs is working at three levels, all involving international collaboration.
- Firstly, through the creation and publication of free information videos and articles which aim to inform and provide self help.
- Secondly, we have just now launched an online petition calling upon the political leaders of Malta to make nuclear disarmament a high priority. Link: www.change.org/petitions/global-nuclear-disarmament-malta
- Thirdly we have been succeeding in creating a circle of international collaborators in support of Synaptic Laboratories' next generation technology designs on the ICT Gozo Malta Technology Roadmap.
