ICT Gozo Malta

Working in close collaboration with key Government and private stakeholders and selected leading International companies, ICT Gozo Malta is realizing a global vision based on 10+ years of research.  Our projects are focussed on technology proposals and solutions that have already started to win international recognition and that match European and international (such as USA) high priorities, in cutting edge ICT domains such as Future Internet, Global Cyber Security and Secure Computing in the Cloud.  Projects will involve several of the six proposals from Synaptic Laboratories Limited that were presented at and published in the proceedings of the United States Government Cyber Security Summit, August 2009. Other cutting edge research and technology companies being promoted by ICT Gozo Malta include SST, Sonalysts, QuintessenceLabsSecureRF and Anagran.

Projects will bring together local and internationally sourced ICT breakthroughs and experts to enable the demonstration of even more advanced solutions.

Delivering next generation cyber security is a clear objective in all ICT Gozo Malta activities. Projects address the hard problems and offer features considered essential for the security of existing and future systems as listed in authoritative guiding publications such as the United States Department of Homeland Security 2009 Cyber Security Roadmap.  Today's systems are not trustworthy or dependable.

"There's no such thing as 'secure' anymore" ... "We have to build our systems on the assumption that adversaries will get in." ...
"We have to, again, assume that all the components of our system are not safe, and make sure we're adjusting accordingly."

Debora Plunkett, Director IAD, U.S. National Security Agency (Dec 2010)

Experts such as and have spoken publicly to warn of the imminence and extent of the threats.  ICT Gozo Malta projects can be seen as a direct response to this and will deliver new levels of security ultimately for all types of systems by demonstrating how even competitors can economically achieve fully redundant layered defenses, distributed trust and protection against many types of insider attack, such as may be present in the ICT hardware, software and from trusted employees and administrators.

Through the facilitation of existing and developing international ICT relationships, we also advance Malta sourced R&D and promote Malta's unique advantages as a location for cutting edge ICT demonstration projects.  These advantages include:

  • European Union Membership
  • Compact geography and population size suited as an international test bed for next generation technologies
  • Quick access to Government and corporate decision makers
  • Strong Government commitment to ICT and advanced national ICT infrastructure
  • Neutral multicultural and geographic crossroads between Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA)
  • Attractive taxation and skilled human resources.

All this in a world class tourism destination in the Mediterranean Sea that is also home to the world’s oldest standing structures (temples predating the pyramids).
